Testra's giant selfie stick activation engages social media users!
What is it?
Telstra identified two key insights to initiate this idea 1. the target audiences’ love of taking selfies 2. Most selfies at festivals look the same. So, in April when it was announced nationally that selfie sticks were to be banned at the festival, the scene was set! Telstra created the biggest selfie stick in the world, and they knew the 30,000-strong audience would be amused.
“The Big Selfie Stick” gave fans an iconic selfie with the festival in full view. Images captured were completed with branded skin, and sent directly to the customer’s phone to share across their own social media accounts with a hashtag linked to Telstra. In the end 3,292 selfies were taken, 18% of total festival goers engaged and an estimated 57% of activation participants shared their group selfie through their social channels with over 1.3 million impressions online.
Key Takeaway
Telstra leveraged one of Australia’s leading platforms reaching young music fans, delivering a clever idea that took a restriction and turned it into an activation.
